Time, record and review a one-minute story

Use the One-Minute Story Structure to shape what you say, then review your recording with the Five-Point Recording Rubric and choose one thing to practise next.

Step 1

Time your one-minute story

The timer never starts on its own. Press start, then move through the four parts as the timer guides you.

1:00

Situation: 10s left

  1. Situation · 10s

Where and when? Set the scene in one or two sentences.

  2. Turning point · 10s

What changed or created a challenge?

  3. Action and outcome · 25s

What did you do, and what happened as a result?

  4. Meaning · 15s

Why does it matter? Finish with your takeaway.

Step 2 (optional)

Record your story

Record your one-minute story

Press record, then start the timer above. Listen back when you finish. Your recording stays on your device and is cleared when you leave or refresh this page.

Step 3

Review with the Five-Point Recording Rubric

Listen once for the overall message, then again for one or two criteria. This is a reflection guide, not a score.

Clarity

Could I understand the key words and sentence endings?

Pace and pauses

Did the pace allow the listener to follow the message?

Organisation

Was there a clear main point and a logical sequence?

Delivery

Was my voice audible, and did I finish my thoughts?

Connection

Did I give the listener enough context and explain why the message mattered?
